"So Will I (100 Billion X)" by Hillsong United
This song is all about what God has done and what our response should be. The first 2 verses and choruses of this song are filled with beautiful lyrics and powerful truth of God's creation of all things. A few lines that stick out: "With no point of reference, You spoke to the dark and fleshed out the wonder of light." ~ "All nature and science follow the sound of Your voice." ~ "As You speak, a hundred billion galaxies are born." One line to note is when we sing about God's creatures "evolving in pursuit of what You said." We aren't talking about macro-evolution (species turning into other species) but rather the simple act of all creating things changing and moving in pursuit of what God - AND ONLY GOD - says. The lyrics about creation worshiping - particularly the bridge - bring several Psalms to mind. Psalm 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork." Psalm 66:4 says, "All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Psalm 148 is filled with more of this imagery of creation worshiping our Creator. Verses 3 and 4 say, "Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!" Click here to read the rest of this Psalm! After the bridge, the song shifts our focus to what Christ - God in human flesh - did for us. "On a hill You created, the light of the world abandoned in darkness to die." Because of what Christ did for us, our sin is forgiven - "a hundred billion failures disappear." And because He conquered death, so one day will we - "if You left the grave behind You, so will I." |
