"His Mercy is More" written by Matt Boswell & Matt Papa
mer·cy /ˈmərsē/ noun: compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. This song is a beautiful reminder of God's mercy toward us. The resounding theme throughout the whole song is, "Our sins they are many, but His mercy is more!" The first verse reminds us that though God is omniscient (all-knowing) He doesn't count our sins against us. He casts them into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19). The second verse talks about the Father's patience as we constantly roam. "He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor..." None are beyond the reach of our loving Father. Verse 3 looks at Christ's sacrifice. "His blood was the payment, His life was the cost. He stood beneath a debt we could never afford..." This reminds us of the idea of redemption we looked at a few weeks ago. We were bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20) - Christ's death. And through His resurrection, we have hope for today and tomorrow! |
