"Goodness of God" by Jenn Johnson
This song speaks of some of God’s attributes: His goodness, mercy, and faithfulness. It also reminds us why we should praise Him in all circumstances. The first verse reminds us of His consistency. He is full of love and mercy “all my days.” Our response- our praise to Him - should be just as consistent: “from the moment that I wake up until I lay my head...” Verse 2 reminds us to follow His leading as He calls us. “You have led me through the fire. In darkest night, You are close like no other.” It also reminds us that He is both or Father AND our friend. The chorus reinforces His goodness/faithfulness toward us and our response - “with every breath that I am able I will sing of the goodness of God.” The bridge reminds us that His goodness isn’t something that we can earn - Jesus comes to us and gives it freely! We should surrender anything in our hands that distracts us from Him and freely give Him everything. He is good! |
