"Good God Almighty" by Crowder
This new one is from one of my all time favorite worship leaders (Crowder) and we played it at our youth retreat last weekend. “Good God Almighty” is all about God’s attributes - His goodness, love, mercy, and faithfulness - and our response to Him - praise! The first verse reflects on His faithfulness - “You showed up and patched me up like You do every time.” He is faithful even in our times of doubt (“I get amnesia, I forget...”). He will never let us down! Verse 2 looks at His love and mercy - “Your love goes on forever, Your mercy never stops. So why would I assume You’d be somebody that You’re not?” He is who He says He is and we should take Him at His word! He is as faithful as the sunrise every morning and because of that we should fear nothing. The chorus is our response: “Good God Almighty, I hope You’ll find me praising Your name no matter what comes.” Our response to His attributes should be nothing short of total praise and adoration. “I know where I’d be without Your mercy, so I keep praising Your name at the top of my lungs.” Without His mercy, we would be destined for hell and have no hope in this life. Instead, we are destined for heaven and have hope and purpose while we are on earth!!! The bridges remind us that our praise and love for Him should be all day “morning, noontime, when the sun goes down” because His faithfulness never stops! |
