"Made Alive" by Citizens
The lyrics from this song come Ephesians 2:1-10. The beginning of the first verse echoes Ephesians 2:1-3 as we reflect on our hopeless state without the work of Jesus: I once was dead in sin, alone and hopeless. A child of wrath I walked, condemned in darkness Ephesians 2:4-6 says, "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." Paul's words are reflected in our song as we sing: But Your mercy brought new life, and in Your love and kindness, raised me up with Christ and made me righteous! Paul concludes this section by reminding us that it is by grace, through faith in Christ that we are able to be saved. This is not of our own doing, but it is a GIFT FROM GOD! What an incredible gift! Take some time to listen to this song again and reflect on God's great gift of salvation. |
