"Living Hope" by Phil Wickham
This song beautifully articulates our desperate need for a Savior and the gospel - the Good News of Jesus! Here are a few lines on which to reflect... "How great the chasm that lay between us (humanity and God) - how high the mountain I could not climb." We have all sinned against God (Romans 3:23). Because of our sin we are separated from God's love and fully deserve His wrath. On our own, we fail miserably to reconcile our relationship with Him. We cannot cross the "chasm" or climb the "mountain" to Him. He is holy, we are not. "The God of ages stepped down from glory to wear my sin and bear my shame." Jesus, Emmanuel "God with us" (Isaiah 7:14) took on human flesh and lived a perfect life - knowing what He would eventually endure on the cross. "The cross has spoken, I am forgiven." All of the wrath that we deserve was poured out on Jesus as He suffered and died on the cross. Jesus paid the price for our sins and we can now be forgiven! "Then came the morning that sealed the promise, Your buried body began to breathe. Out of the silence the roaring lion declared the grave has no claim on me!" Jesus died for our sake, but He didn't stay dead. All four gospel accounts tell us on the third day, Jesus rose to life! Because Jesus lives, we have confidence hope that we too will one day be resurrected and live with Him for eternity (1 Corinthians 15). "Jesus, Yours is the victory!" |
