"Not for a Moment" by Meredith Andrews
God will never leave us nor forsake us. We are reminded of this truth in both the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 31:6) and the New Testament (Hebrews 13:5). This song reminds us of this timeless truth from God's Word. The first verse references the story of Jesus walking on the water, reaching through the storm to lift up his disciple Peter (Matthew 14:22-33). He does the same for us, even when we can't see through the storms of life. The second verse says, "You were singing in the dark, whispering Your promise even when I could not hear." Even when His voice seems distant, He gives us gentle reminders of His presence. Whenever we are too weak to walk, He carries us. "Not for a moment did You forsake me." The chorus looks at several attributes of God. "After all, You are constant (never changing)...You are only good...You are sovereign (a ruler over ALL)." The bridge again emphasizes God's presence with us no matter what we walk through. "Every step, every breath You are there. Every tear, every cry, every prayer. In my hurt, at my worst, when my world falls down...not for a moment will You forsake me." No matter what, He will NEVER abandon us. What great peace and encouragement this brings! |
