Christmas Devotional Advent Calendar
The Christmas story is all about who God is and what He has done. Without God, we wouldn’t have Christmas! Without Him, we wouldn’t have salvation! It is because of Him that we have reason to celebrate this season. He has made the way for our sins to be forgiven (John 14:6)! Scripture tells us that our sins have caused a separation between us and God (Is. 59:2). Our trespasses against God also deserve death (Rom. 6:23). It is into this darkness that the Light of God has come for our rescue (Is. 9:2; 1 Tim. 1:15)!
The name, Immanuel means, “God is with us” (Matt. 1:23). The reason Jesus came to this earth, took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived under the requirements of the Law, was tempted in every way but without sin, yet nailed to a cross to suffer under the fierce wrath of God, die, and three days later, rise again was so that He might be with us and we might be with Him (1 Peter 3:18; John 17:24)! He came to our place of darkness, took the punishment in our place for the sins that we’ve committed that we might share in His place before the Father in heaven (John 17:3, 24; John 3:16)! This is the wonderful news of the Christmas story and what we celebrate this season! The greatest gift that anyone could ever receive is Jesus! We take this gift and know Him as Savior by turning from our sin and trusting in Him alone (Eph. 2:8-9). The following Scripture readings and questions are to help you and your child(ren) see and know all that is ours to celebrate this Christmas! Enjoy the sweetness of the season through the wonderful news of who God is and what He has done! Vertical Divider
